The International Beauty Show (IBS New York) and the International Conference on Beauty, Cosmetics & Spa (IECSC New York), both under the Questex umbrella, were held in grand style at the Javits Centre in New York from 23-25 March, attracting more than 32,000 professional visitors including salon owners, hairdressers, beauty therapists, manicurists, massage therapists and cosmetic specialists. The show not only achieved a 6% annual growth rate, but also welcomed 430 exhibiting brands and exhibitors, 166 of which were first-time exhibitors, a 35% increase from 2024.
This year's show introduced an artistic performance by the ‘Pioneer International Team’ in collaboration with Live Fashion Hair, showcasing the latest fashion hairstyles and trends. In addition, the Gradient and Blade Barber Competition, which had been suspended due to the epidemic, was relaunched in partnership with professional hairdressing company L3VEL3, attracting many barbers to enter, with the ultimate winner receiving a $1,000 cash prize and a professional toolkit.
The Business District was added to the show, providing salon and spa professionals with tools and solutions to enhance their business operations. Innovations such as AI skin analysis, virtual make-up trials, personalised beauty solutions, LED light therapy and smart cleansing and massage tools were also showcased.
The show offered more than 200 courses covering hair, nails, make-up and beauty, with a 91 per cent increase in registrations over 2024. Courses were varied and included how to service neurodiverse clients, social media marketing tips, and financial management.
The What's New For You Zone attracted a number of first-time brands, where visitors could be the first to experience newly launched products.
Elizabeth Trevorrow, events and partnerships director at Questex, said the beauty and spa industry is transforming from a luxury to a necessity, becoming an integral part of people's lives. The success of the show not only showcased the innovation and professionalism of the industry, but also provided participants with the opportunity to enhance their skills and expand their business.
Looking ahead, IBS New York plans to expand further in 2026, expanding its exhibition space to over 116,000 square feet. The show will also feature IBS Las Vegas from 21-23 June 2025 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
The success of the show not only provided a platform for professionals in the beauty and spa industry to learn and network, but also demonstrated Questex's continued efforts to advance the industry.
